In upgrading leather plants for the application of polyurethane film, the point at which two operators must manually lay the hides on film where adhesive has been applied, has always limited production speed. In addition to requiring the work of two persons and slowing down processing, this manual operation does not ensure uniform and homogeneous results for all the hides.
To improve the leather lamination procedure, we have designed, built and patented the machine illustrated below.
This group, which can be inserted in existing installations, requires the labour of only one person, who places the leathers into the input mechanism, which spreads them and deposits them onto an interspaced cylinder, suitable for heating. At this point the hide is wrapped around the cylinder with a polythene film, released from the lower part of the cylinder, in contact with the adhesive applied to the film and in correspondence to a counter cylinder.
This procedure produces the effect of spreading and stretching hides, which are deposited in a uniform and regular manner on the laminating surface. The following results are obtained with this method:
- Reduction from two workers to one worker to introduce the hides
- Considerable increase in speed for the entire installation
- Uniform and regular lamination of any type of leather
